Can we save the planet by using absorption refrigeration?

From what this URL shows (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absorption_refrigerator), there is a future (for the world using this technology for cooling, refrigeration, freezing ourselves, our food and our homes.

Any idea why we can't use it?  Is it because somebody is holding the patent and forcing all not to use the technology for their commercial advantage?
